How to Remove a Majordomo Mailing List

You can only remove mailing lists that you own.  The Majordomo software does not
actually remove mailing lists, so you need to use the "listmgr" utility.

To remove your mailing list, just send electronic mail addressed to:

	listmgr@listlink.berkeley.edu

that contains a "remove" command in the body of the mail message.

This mail must originate from the UCLink account that originally created
the mailing list.

For example,

	remove your_list_name list_password 

replacing "your_list_name" with the name of your list and "list_password"
with your mailing password.

If you have forgotten your list_password, please send mail to
consult@uclink.berkeley.edu.

Here is a step-by-step example of how to remove a mailing list.  Let's say that
a user named "kirsten" wants to remove an mailing list named "bird_list". 
Kirsten can remove the list by sending mail addressed to:

	listmgr@listlink.berkeley.edu,

that contains this line in the body of the mail message:

	remove bird_list xyz 

Before her mailing list is removed, it will be verified that Kirsten is the
owner of the mailing list.   Kirsten will receive an message that asks
her to verify her request using an assigned "verification number":

   Dear kirsten,

   Before removing the mailing list, we need to verify that your account,
   kirsten@uclink4.berkeley.edu, originated this request. 
 
   For verification, please send mail addressed to listmgr@listlink.berkeley.edu
   that contains this command in the body of the mail message:
 
        verify bird_list.6032a
 
   If you do not wish to verify this request, no action is necessary.
 
After Kirsten sends the verify command back to listmgr, she will receive a
confirmation that her bird_list mailing list has been removed:
